Helen Burton has extensive experience in graphic design and fine art. She began her commercial career in advertising artwork with The Miami Herald, and continued to freelance in that field. Among her wide variety of work she produced fashion illustrations, corporate logo designs, full-color brochures, custom designs for the Boy Scouts of America, and illustrations for Harper & Row.

She has studied with more than12 nationally recognized watercolor experts since 1984. Her paintings have been juried into local, regional and national competitions including the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors, New York in 2005, Georgia Watercolor Society Members' and National Exhibitions 2001 through 2005, earning Signature Membership in 2005; Tennessee Watercolor Society State-wide Exhibitions 2002 through 2006, earning Signature Membership in 2006.

Currently an elected member of the In-Town Gallery, a 32-year-old artists' co-op, since 1999, Helen was a guest artist at the River Gallery in July 2004, and also exhibits in the Plum Nelly Gallery - all in Chattanooga. The Museum at 5ive Points in Cleveland has a permanent installation of her work and carries reproductions of her watercolors. Her paintings and prints are in private and corporate collections in 22 states and eight countries.

Helen paints in a realistic style with attention to detail and a keen observation of color. Her use of transparent pigments best expresses the nature of the watercolor medium. Her subjects are mainly botanical and architectural, as can be seen on this website. Her European travels have inspired many of the images she captured by digital photography to be used as references for her paintings.

She has completed more than 20 commissioned residential portraits. They are shown as examples of her ability to render many different architectural styles.
